"They were laughing at us," revealed Fred Wright, a teammate of Tom Pidcock, shedding light on the latter's disappointing performance during the Opening Weekend. This statement, a stark contrast to Pidcock's recent success, has sparked curiosity and controversy.

"I suffered in the cold," Wright admitted, describing the grim conditions of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Pidcock himself acknowledged a "beginner's mistake" with his clothing, facing additional setbacks with a mechanical issue.
And this is the part most people miss... Wright emphasized that the issue was less about form and more about adaptation. The altitude camp, while beneficial for training, may have left the team ill-prepared for the cold European climate.
"An altitude camp ahead of the classics is great, as it ensures you're strong when it matters most," Wright explained. "But mentally, it was a refreshing change, a step forward both physically and mentally."

"Tom's performances inspire confidence. I love riding with him, especially when he puts on a show like he did in Ruta del Sol. I'm excited for the season ahead," Wright added with a smile.
The team's approach this season, centered around Pidcock, seems to prioritize freedom over constraint. Wright was clear about the appeal: "Tom was a key reason for my move. We're racing stress-free, and that's our goal for the entire year."
