The Crystal Ball: Hazy but Hopeful
Back in 2024, we boldly forecasted the No. 1 prospect for each organization, and now we're taking stock. Out of the 30 teams, 15 had their top prospects yet to enter pro ball, with 12 from the 2024 or 2025 drafts and one from the 2025 international signing period. One of our predicted top prospects is indeed a current No. 1, but for a different team due to a trade. Another graduated from prospect status ahead of schedule, reaching the big leagues before our predicted timeline.
The Hits and Misses: A Tale of Two Leagues
In the American League, the Blue Jays' Arjun Nimmala, a highly touted shortstop, was our pick, but Trey Yesavage, a right-handed pitcher, has emerged as their top prospect. The Orioles' Enrique Bradfield Jr., an elite defender, was our choice, but Samuel Basallo, a catcher/first baseman, has taken the spotlight. The Rays' Xavier Isaac, known for his raw power, was our selection, but Carson Williams, a shortstop, is now their top prospect. The Red Sox's Miguel Bleis, a four-tool player, was our prediction, but Payton Tolle, a left-handed pitcher, has surpassed him. The Yankees' Roderick Arias, a shortstop, was our forecast, but George Lombard Jr., an infielder, is now their top prospect.
In the National League, the Braves' Jose Perdomo, a shortstop, was our choice, but Cam Caminiti, a left-handed pitcher, has risen to the top. The Marlins' Noble Meyer, a right-handed pitcher, was our pick, but Thomas White, a left-handed pitcher, has exceeded expectations. The Mets' Ryan Clifford, an outfielder/first baseman, was our selection, but Nolan McLean, a right-handed pitcher, is now their top prospect. The Nationals' Cristhian Vaquero, an outfielder, was our prediction, but Eli Willits, a shortstop, has taken the lead. The Phillies' Starlyn Caba, a shortstop, was our choice, but Aidan Miller, a shortstop, has emerged as their top prospect.

For instance, the Blue Jays' Nimmala is still highly regarded, but Yesavage's impressive performance at High-A Vancouver has catapulted him to the top.
